the Windows Lync client lets you have different ringtones for your calls, team calls, response groups and private calls. It would be nice if this could also be done on Lync Phone Edition.
It should be noted also that snom phones have the ability, although there are only 3 ringtone options (Regular, Forwarded and Private) which is not as many as the Lync client itself.
Lync Web App + Dial-In Conference Number works pretty well. A neat feature would be to make use of the PIC Audio/Video connectivity with Windows Live Messenger to allow a guest to be "called" based on their Windows Live ID. All the collaboration would still use Lync Web App, but Audio and Video would be handled via Windows Live Messenger. With the increasing number of ITSPs that support Direct SIP to Lync, it would be very helpful if the Lync Mediation Role supported the G.729 codec. This would reduce the bandwidth requirements on the link between the Lync server and the ITSP. Also, it would be nice if Lync could support H.264 for HD video. In addition to changing status to "in a meeting" based on calendar information, it would be nice to have the option to change status to "off work" based on work hours defined in Outlook.
Silverlight 4 supports accessing microphone and webcam inputs. Theoretically, it should be possible to include this functionality in Lync Web App for conferences without requiring PSTN dialin or downloading the attendee client manually.
Lync for Mac helps improve the user experience on the mac, but here are some features that are still missing that would be nice to have: - Upload a PowerPoint - White board and Polls - Recording - E911 - Manage Team Call and Delegate settings - Attendee client for Mac - USB "Better Together" with Lync Phone Edition (moved to own idea)-Support for managing input and output devices with USB headsets, handsets (ala Polycom ...more »
