Customers really like the Lync Room Systems. They perfectly fit the Lync experience from mobile to table and desktop clients. A very common request is to be able to integrate with legacy (H.323, or SIP (H.264) videoconferencing endpoints. Sometimes customers have 100+ of those Cisco or Polycom endpoints. The client supports a Primary and a Secondary registrar. You want to offer customer as much High Availability as possible. When you have a Pool Pairing setup and an SBA on site you have to choose between voice resiliency and have no backup for conferencing or go for the pool pairing with WAN redundancy. Microsoft Lync uses RDP protocol for desktopsharing. In order to have proper interoperability with videoconferencing providers their should be a RDP to BFCP gateway function in the Pool or BFCP should be supported at client level.
Polycom has an additional client that can be installed below the Lync client, but then this must be managed and licensed separately and is available only to internal users.
