When i create a meeting or appointment in my Outlook calendar I can set a "Show As" option. If I select "Show As [Free]" it leaves my presence unchanged for the duration of the meeting. If I select "Show As [Busy]" my Lync presence changes to "Busy" for the duration. if I select "Show As [Out of Office]" my Lync presence remains, although the tiny purple OOF asterisk *does* show - if you look hard. For consistency ...more »
EVERY tab in the Lync Control Panel has a "Refresh" button in the toolbar - except Voice Routing.
If you're making changes via PS and want to check them on-screen in the Control Panel you need to switch to another tab and back again to refresh the config.
A Refresh button would be helpful here - and deliver a consistent functionality across all of the tabs.
Lync currently allocates me a random dial-in conferencing ID. Sometimes I'll get a 'friendly' number, and other times it'll be one devoid of nice numeric sequences or patterns. I'd like the Administrator (or maybe even the user!) to be able to specify their preferred dial-in conference ID, perhaps when the user goes to the dialin page, or otherwise via PowerShell. Lync should quarantine IDs that have been used before, ...more »
OK, here's another PABX feature that we could add to Lync: Have the user's Voice Policy change based upon time of day and day of week. During business hours you have country-wide access, but outside of hours it drops to something like local-only. Alternatively, if you have a security booth that's only staffed overnight, the Lync phone there is local-only during the day and only enabled for mobile calls at night. This ...more »
In Exchange 2010, when you perform actions from the Exchange Control Panel that involve a "wizard" process (e.g. enable a user for UM), the final screen shows the PowerShell commandlet that was executed and offers the ability to copy it to the clipboard.
It would be beneficial if the Lync Control Panel would also behave in a similar fashion.
Lync 2013 has made it even harder than before to transfer a call. Now it takes a hover and 2 clicks before you can key the party you want to transfer the call to. If the user mistakenly clicks instead of hovering on the "handset/mike" icon, they end up accidentally muting themself - presumably at a time that they're still talking to the caller whilst trying to make this complicated transfer process appear seamless. ...more »
If I join a dial-up conference using my mobile phone and I do not authenticate, Lync shows my phone number in the participant list. I suggest Lync should perform a reverse-number lookup against the Address Book (or the corporate AD) and show my name instead of my phone number. This would serve two purposes - it would obviously help identify me to the others on the call, and it maintains the privacy/secrecy of my phone ...more »
PABXs have long had an "Authorisation [PIN] code" feature where a user can dial a code and PIN to be allowed to make a call that would be otherwise barred. Yes, Lync gives me the option to log another client out and myself in so as to permit this call, but that's a bit clunky for a single call. If a call is barred by the Client it gives me a "403" error. On receipt of a 403 the client could offer me a dialog to override ...more »
It's long irked me that in the Response Group call flow, the Welcome Message appears before the Business Hours and Holiday tests. This forces an illogical flow and poor caller experience: "Welcome to Fabrikam. Your call may be recorded" "We're currently closed". If the options were rearranged, the out-of-hours and holiday messages and treatments would be self-contained, and the Welcome message only plays when ...more »
I have only one SIP domain in my deployment, yet when I go to enable a new user in the Control Panel, the SIP domain fields under "Generate user's SIP URI" are all blank. I need to click the pull-down and select from the only option there is. Lync has a "Default" SIP domain. The CSCP should populate the SIP domain fields on the form with this value automatically. Should the developers see reason why this shouldn't ...more »
