Developers should have hooks into the API (either through a connected Lync Client SDK or some other means) to push content to this device and/or interact with it better and be able to control its operations.
While CAP are good, actually using them can be a pain. Unlike UM integrated users where the missed calls and call history are logged, theres no way to tell who the last few calls were from or to quickly redial the last number
There should be an option to set a autoawaytime for Lync phone edition.
It is ok with 15 minutes for a client logged in to a computer. Because you are active at the computer.
But you are not that active on a phone edition the same way so it goes yellow after a couple of minutes. And then other people wont try to call you since you look away.
There should be a function for a local address book on Lync phone edition. The sync between Lync phone edition and exchange leaves much to ask.
And if you set it up as a commonareaphone you have no address book at all.
The ability for someone to 'barge-in' on a call was standard on most PBX's.
Managers want this feature so they can join a call when they need to, without having the person add them.
The Lync Phone Edition Phones should be able to set permanent Call FWDs. Certain Receptions don't want a Response Group (they are temps and not real AD users) and need a device (Common Area Phone) that can be manually changed to route the reception call to various mobiles and ect...
Add record option when on Lync Conference and sharing screen.
