There should be an option for the user to upload their own picture rather than having to point to a web address in the Lync client.
I it frustrating to say the least that after you update your own photo it can take 24 hours for it to appear synchronised back in the Lync client. Even then, you have to magically 'know' to turn off the client and restart it, which is what the Windows team boast you don't have to do, leaving everything to sleep all the time.
I know there is an option within the Lync Client to disable photos, but this is an all or nothing option.
The Lync application should still be able to show photos within the Buddy/Contact list and the title bar of the chat window. However I think it is but redundant to have the photo... more »
Some users don't have photos, some have obscure photos or random images. Given the status bar showing who's in a conversation shows only people's images (when in its minimal form / saving screen real estate) it's hard to tell who's in the conversation.
