The Lync Room Systems are expensive collaborative devices that provide a great experience when working properly. However when they don't work properly, or need to be reconfigured for some reason, they almost always require an onsite visit and then a time consuming reboot into Administration mode. Often these devices may be in another geographic region, making the ability to remote control and connect to these devices all the more important.
Remote access is a capability that competing VTC's already have, and is a significant omission from the LRS. Microsoft need to improve the the remote access capabilities, and also provide a means for the units to be remotely dialled into conferences etc for troubleshooting purposes.
The supplied LRS Admin portal is cumbersome to deploy and only provides very limited diagnosis capabilities.
