Recent Contacts - Bring it back!

Communicator had a recent contacts option. The new Frequently Contacted in Lync does not work the same way.

With recent contacts, if I ever contacted somebody or someone contacted me, there name would remain

in that list for at least a few weeks, and after that period if I hadn't contacted them again, it would eventually go away.

Ability for end user to block phone numbers

Right now, you can add a phone number to your Lync contacts list. But you can't right click on it and change the privacy relationship to blocked. This would be a welcome solution for users who want to block numbers in orgs that don't have a number blocking solution in place.

Support for setting photo on RGS and application objects

It would be nice if you could assign a photo for these objects to help identify them. Tom Arbuthnot wrote an article about it at http://lyncdup.com/2012/12/lync-2013-setting-a-user-picture-for-an-application-or-response-group-contact-object/.

Method to import Skype contacts into Lync contacts list

Would be nice if you could authenticate to Skype, and have it pull your contacts into Lync.

Allow assigning Privacy Relationship to groups

It would be nice if you could apply a Privacy Relationship setting to a group, and have it apply to the contacts in it unless they were specifically changed.

Option to hide offline contacts should NOT include away contacts

I really like the 2013 option to hide offline contacts, and it also includes away contacts. Unfortunately, we have some "presence liars" that set to away even though they are not.

Non-voice enabled users shouldn't see phone numbers for calls

If you hover over the handset icon for a contact, you see all of the ways to connect to a user in Lync. Lync call, Voicemail, and phone numbers, etc.. If a user isn't voice enabled, then the phone numbers are irrelevant. They shouldn't be visible or clickable to non voice users.

New Number box should save entered number in contact

When you click the button to call someone in Lync, and choose the "New Number", you can enter a new number and escalate the IM conversation to voice. But it doesn't store that number anywhere. It would be nice if it could do that.

Allow moving/copying of contacts when they are offline

In the Lync 2013 client, if you right click on an online contact, you can move them to different groups. But if they are offline, that option is not available. Whether a contact is online/offline shouldn't affect how I mange them in my contacts list.

A better contacts experience

Contacts and contact management is generally good, however it lacks the finesse that could make it awesome. I find myself continually frustrated with what is a seemingly simple but highly important feature. I don't think I have seen a single deployment without a least 1 issue - Outlook integration, duplicate contacts, disappearing phone numbers, inability to search contacts added to custom groups, poor or hopelessly ...more »
