Lync Client Default Click-to-Call Number

The Lync 2013 can be set to default to Lync Call with a powershell command ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398300.aspx ), however that is only the initial setting. From that point on Lync defaults to the last number called for a contact. As noted here: http://masteringlync.com/2014/01/27/controlling-click-to-call/ Users mostly make "lync calls", however they might change to someone's cell phone, now ...more »

Hotkeys for voice related functions

It would be nice if you could assign hotkeys to common voice functions like hold, hangup, transfer & bring active call window to foreground, etc. This is a great feature in Skype that I use extensively.

NOTE: In Lync 2013 there is a Global/OS Wide hotkeys for:

-Answer = Win+A

-Mute = Windows+F4

Change the system tray icon back!

With the recent security updates, the system tray icon changed to the Lync logo, and is no longer a representation of your presence. I liked it the old way!

Thinner Client(less width)

Lync 2010 allowed you to make it much Thinner than 2013 does. Please allow us to make it thinner if we so please.

The red space in the following image would be ideal, there is nothing important that would be blocked from the UI's standpoint, so why is it limited to this width?

Lync 2013 Client - client certificate login

For organizations like ours that have Smart Card login enforced (no user/password), we are unable to use iOS, Windows Phone and other clients except Lync "desktop" Client from domain joined computer (user is logged on to computer with SmartCard therefore it has kerberos ticket issued). If Lync non-desktop client could support client certificates, we could easily export client cert from smart card and import it to iOS, ...more »

Support the Up arrow key in the Lync client to echo old messages

Allow support in the Lync client to push up on the keyboard to scroll through your previous messages to a user. Using the down arrow key scrolls the other way.

Fix the double-spacing issue in the Lync 2013 client

Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 introduced a bug in the Lync client that causes a lot of extra, unnecessary whitespace. This causes the product to appear unpolished, not to mention waste precious screen real estate. This was originally documented in early 2014, in March. Please fix. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/1bfea987-2c4f-4233-b480-452648122b47/lync-2013-sp1-doublespacing-in-messages?forum=officeitpro ...more »

Seamless transion of voice/video calls between devices

One Lync Subscriber may have multiple devices. A feature is required that enables established calls to be "moved" from one device to another while in mid-call. This would enable users to take a call on their mobile device (VoIP or Cellular), walk into their office and continue the call on their PC Client. Of course the reverse should be possible as well. with the call moving to the moble device over VoIP or Cellular. ...more »

Single version (and free) Lync client for PC

IMO is a big mistake for MS to have a full Lync client and a free Lync Basic. Lync costs should be bound to activated feuture only. The client should be only one for PC and free, like the Lync Mobile clients. This could improve the software distribution across the customer's clients, because the customer do not have to choose witch client version to install, but only witch feature (and CAL) to enable for users, and last ...more »

Address book download interval should be in client policy

Right now, the Lync client will download the address book at a randomly chosen interval between 5 minutes and 60 minutes after sign-in. This can be controlled via the registry in a method described at http://policelli.com/blog/archive/2011/03/16/how-to-force-an-address-book-refresh-on-lync-client/. I think it would make more sense to make this part of the client policy.
